Selection of sound pieces for the practice of Space Synthesis. For playback it is recommended to extend loudspeaker cables so the speakers can be positioned in a significant distance to each other. They can then be placed in different rooms or can be carried around during playback. Thus, the acoustic field widens, and a dynamic listening experience emerges. Moving within and outside of that field creates ever new sound combinations, spatial artifacts, and perceptual experiences.

Space Synthesis is the first solo exhibition of artist and composer Jan St. Werner. With the Space Synthesis exhibition, Werner transforms Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden into a sound space, using the building as a large instrument. The works composed for the exhibition explore human thought about sound in dialogue with architecture. Werner’s work adheres to the concept that everyone perceives sounds differently. The Kunsthalle becomes a living body of work in which art and architecture merge in an undisciplinary way.
